postheadericon “Don’t Abort The Baby!”

Sis. ShirleyGreetings Everyone,

I hope this message finds you well.  This lesson was discussed on a Bible Study conference call in April.  I would like to share it with everyone because we never know how God is going to use us or to which lengths.  We all know we have to be ready in season and out of season; so while you are going through your trials and tribulations, remember that God is shaping you to carry out His Will at the same time that He is shaping, molding and purging you.

To God be the glory,

Sis. Shirley

“Don’t Abort The Baby!”

When God gives us a vision or an assignment, He has already planted the seed that will eventually give birth to a specific gift or talent.  We have to fast and pray for guidance and wisdom so that we can fulfill this assignment or vision with excellence.  Sometimes people ask, “How can I identify the gift or talent that God has placed in me so that I will know what to look for or what to nurture?”  The gift or talent that God places in us is what is embedded in our hearts to perform – our passion – so that we can glorify our Lord Jesus Christ.

Only God knows when “our baby” is ready to be delivered.  At the same time, we have to be ready and willing to give birth at the appropriate time.  Many people recognize their gifts or talents, they are taught the Word and go through a period of preparation in order to fulfill their assignment or vision.  Yet they can’t identify the “birthing signs” because they are not consulting with God to find out if they are ready to walk in their purpose right now or even ask Him where it is that they need to be so that they can let go of their own effort to struggle and allow God to prepare them.  We have to realize that God doesn’t impart His Word to us to have it grow and mature and then lose the baby before it can be delivered.  “Don’t abort the baby!”

When God prepares us with the necessary tools -- when He shapes and molds us to His likeness, when He sharpens the fruit of the Spirit and attributes of Jesus Christ – to me, His greatest tool is His “Word” because It is the double-edged sword that cuts away what should not be in us with one side of His Word and refines those things that need to remain in us with the other side of His Word.  Sometimes it hurts to have the familiar cut away and realize that we have to take on the unfamiliar so that we can grow.  “Don’t abort the baby!”

When it seems like God is taking so long in sending us out to spread the Word, start that ministry that is in our hearts, give us a business that will help spread the Word through the anointing that He places over our lives and the products/services that we offer, we have to hold on and remember it’s all in His Time and in His Way and not the other way around.  Sometimes we get anxious, if it looks like we are not working up to God’s expectations.  There are times when we lose patience, wondering why it’s taking God so long to open that door.  Every single thing that we have been called to do for God has to be done according to His Plan and when He says it’s time.  The Bible repeatedly teaches that blessings bring with them the responsibility to employ them in God’s service.  The more blessings and resources we are given, greater is our responsibility to use them wisely.  Much will be expected of those who have been given much.   “Don’t abort the baby!”

Our “baby” can come in different forms; such as one -- Your position in life; two -- Your assignment for work; or three -- the Word given to you to encourage others.

1.   Your Position in Life:

We are to live contentedly for the Lord in whatever economic, social and religious station in life God has placed us.  It could be our marriage, children, job and church that could be very trying from time to time.  But God doesn’t make mistakes.  He knows the end from the beginning and as the Word says, “He doesn’t give us more than we can bear.”  1 Corinthians 7:17,20; 10:13.

2.  Your Assignment for Work:

Those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.  The measure of faith is the power given by God to each believer to fulfill various ministries in the church.  Since the power comes from God, there can be no basis for a superior attitude or self-righteousness.  The word “gifts” in the Greek language is:  “charismata.”  This refers to special gifts of grace – freely given by God to His people to meet the needs of the body.  There are many members and each has a different function; but all are needed for the health of the body.  The emphasis is on unity within diversity.  1 Peter 4:9-11; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Romans 12:3-8

3.  The Word to Encourage:

Preaching the Gospel – being prepared in and out of season.  We never know what people are dealing with when we have conversations, unless we are given an opportunity to share our testimony about where God brought us from, the gifts that He has instilled in us that helps us to hold onto His unchanging Hand, or be prompted by the Holy Spirit to share a word of encouragement.  We are all saved to become beacons of light for Christ; and if we give up on ourselves or go ahead of Christ, our lights will be ineffective.  2 Corinthians 10:13-18

I say all that to say this:  no matter what assignment, vision or Word that God gives to us, we have to learn to trust Him every step of the way.  We never know when He will open that door that will bring a breakthrough and take our assignment to the next level.  Along the way, we have to remind ourselves that it isn’t about us – we should never feel that we are not capable of fulfilling any responsibility that is given to us, as long as we keep God and His vision at the forefront of our minds. Possibilities are in each one of us to have the power to become.  We were created to become praisers for God, Disciples of Christ.  God is taking us from “ordinary” to “extraordinary.”  David and Peter are just 2 good examples of God’s servants not aborting their baby.  Even though they struggled from time to time throughout their lives, despite their shortcomings and God’s chastening, they loved God so much that they continued to serve Him and God was able to use them mightily.   When God gives you the green light, go after your assignment or vision with tenacity and perseverance.  We were chosen because God knew He could trust us, so “don’t abort the baby.”

postheadericon “For His Name Sake”

Greetings everyone.  I was a facilitator today for a Bible Study conference call that takes place every Tuesday from 12:15 to 1:00 p.m.  We all take turns bringing a Word of hope that God imparts to us.  This study was taken from a CD that I received from a Sister-in-Christ many years ago.  I had originally planned to bring a different message, but God placed this message on my heart very heavily because of the times we are living in.

It is time for us to step up to fulfill God’s plan for our lives to the best of our abilities.  Every day we have to strive to pray more fervently, more effectively, so that the very words that we utter into God’s Ear will destroy the yoke by the root, will bring deliverance into the situation, salvation to the lost and spiritual growth to our walk with the Holy Trinity.  May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in His Sight because He is our Rock, our Redeemer.  Amen!

Enjoy,

Sis. Shirley

TITLE: “For His Name’s Sake”             SCRIPTURE BASE: 2 Chronicles 20:1-18

Strategic prayer is not only teaching but training time.  If you want to hear from God, if you need to have a deeper communication, if you need a word, if you need Divine intervention, if you need God to move in to the situation and stop the enemy dead in his track, exalt the Lord, cast down every vein imagination, cast down everything that would exalt itself against the knowledge of God, change the atmosphere.  Use your authority to cast down everything that will come against you:  fear, procrastination, weak belief system, defeated attitude, just to name a few.  Release your faith to destroy the evil powers.  Exalt Him above every word that is formed against you, every trial, crisis, problem, every assignment the enemy might have sent against you, individually and corporately.  God is the most High in our minds and in our mouths.  Declare that the Lord God loves His people and fights for His people. Our God reigns; He is our deliverer:  He formed us, He forgave us, He fights for us and He shows favor to us!

Ask God to glorify His church, His people.  Let the angels descend to minister to God’s heirs of salvation.  God will take us out to bring us in.  Create an atmosphere for His Holiness, His Holy Presence, His Holy Spirit.  This is your day for an encounter with the Lord.  You don’t always have to start a war; sometimes the war comes against you.  War has started and the enemy has started to come against you, but you can smash him in the Name of Jesus Christ.  We can stop the attack before it comes. Tell the enemy whatever he is bringing, we smash it in Jesus’ Name.  Satan is very patient; he sets us up by sowing a negative seed and he waits for the harvest by careful planning over the years – homes, children, marriages, jobs, our nation.  He waits for years for total destruction and is very calculating.  Stop it, neutralize it and smash his actions.  Make the enemy frustrated and confused so that he will have to go away and start all over again.  We don’t know what God has protected us against, what He has stopped in its tracks.  The angels have moved us out of the way – they have stopped activities in the spiritual realm.

Kingdom promises are there, but every day we have to put it to our account and pray.  When you find yourself when all hell breaks loose – you find yourself in a war at home, you go to work and you find yourself in a war there, you need a prayer that will strategize against the tactics of the enemy.  God will get very angry against the enemy and will slaughter them.  It is time for God to intervene.  Roll the problem right back to God and let Him know that the ball is back in His court.  (2 Chronicles 20:6-18)

Prayer strategies to follow:

  1. Rehearse God’s greatness – make God the most high in your mind and make God the most high in your mouth.  Tell God, “You are the Ruler of kingdom, no one can withstand You.”  God will become great in your mind as He becomes great in your mouth so that your problems will not destroy your mind.  The battle is always in the mind.  If your mind is affected by fear, by depression, the battle is lost.  No one can stand against God because He is the greatest.  Man has tried to discredit God but it never works.  He is the God that delivers – no one can keep Him bound.  Put the whole case and pressure of the crisis on God’s back.
  2. Remember God’s past victories – yours or other people’s victories.  God is the same yesterday, today and forever.  See yourself in that situation:  sickness – He raised Lazarus from the dead.  He promoted Joseph from a position of slavery to a position of assistant to King Pharaoh.  He was a provider for Moses by parting the Red Sea.  God healed and protected many others.  We don’t have to stay poor; we go by God’s economy.  What has God done for you before?  Thank Him again for what He has done and let Him know that you can trust Him to bring you through whatever you may be going through now.
  1. Remind God of His promises – He has always kept, and will continue to keep, His promises.  He has exalted His name above everything (“I will bow down toward your Holy Temple and will praise Your Name for Your love and Your faithfulness for You have exalted above all things Your Name and Your Word.” – Psalm 138:2).  God you said, “By His stripes I am healed; I will provide all your needs; no weapon formed against me shall prosper, believe in the Lord Jesus and your household will be saved.”  Tell God whatever promise you need: “Father, Your Word says, etc.”  The enemy cannot discredit His Word.  Plead the Blood of Jesus over your situation so that when He sees the Blood of Jesus, He will pass over it.
  2. Bring your request to Him – He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him.  Family, health, finances, job, home – tell God exactly what you want Him to do.  Be specific – tell God exactly what the problem is and how you need Him to bless you.  This is a prayer clinic.  Thank Him in advance.
  3. Recognize your inability – “Father, this is bigger than I am.  I have no power and don’t know what to do.  My eyes are constantly upon you.  If it doesn’t stop, it can mess up my mind, my home and I realize I cannot fight for myself.”  Tell God you need Him, that you recognize your inability to fight for yourself – this is your dependence.  You need strength, wisdom and direction.  Humbly depend upon the Lord.
  4. Roll over and release the problem upon Him – it is for His Name sake (verse 8).  “You must deliver us for Your Name sake.  You will hear and save us because of the credibility of Your Name.”  Exalt His Word and Name above everything.

postheadericon It’s not the What, it’s the Who!

ToniaHFK11The other day, I was on my way to my night job after working a long morning of searching for ways to connect with local organizations to build business connections within the community…

After talking to many organizations and trying to figure out what are the needs of DivineEndings.com and how we can contribute to the needs of the community, I began to feel overwhelmed thinking “What value does DivineEndings.com bring to other businesses around here?” I saw myself being asked by a business professional, “So, What type of business do you have?” and my answer being, “I am the owner of an online social network called DivineEndings.com.  It is a faith-based network that focuses on Making Christian Connections Everyday relating to faith-based entertainment, news, and fellowship among the Christian community.” I was feeling good and my elevator pitch seemed great, but then I heard the reply say, “Oh, okay that sounds great. I’ll have to check it out some time.” …and there went the introductions. We shook hands and went on with our networking and I just couldn’t stop thinking, what business perspective could that person have gained from DivineEndings.com? What did we have to offer to them or to their business?

Prayer Road

Prayer Road

I drove to work thinking these questions and simply spoke to God saying what was on my mind. I asked, “Are people going to hear what DivineEndings.com is about and move on? How will we ever be successful if people don’t really see any value in the business?” Getting totally side tracked…my mind runs a mile a minute, I remembered a friend telling me about WEZE 590AM, a Christian talk radio station.  I searched for the radio station and programmed it into my radio dial. I heard a man talking about death. He was saying how people in the world are often asking about Death and like any message you start listening in on mid conversation, I was totally confused. I listened further and what the message was saying in regards to death was that as believers, verses being in the world, we are not frightened by death. The speaker said “Death does not scare us, it does not frighten us because it is a release from the slums to the mansion.” In other words, it is our passage from this world to our eternal destination with our heavenly Father, Who and which is the reason why we live!

Now, you may be wondering, what does this message have to do with the business and my concern for how people will respond to the value they see in DivineEndings.com, or what it has to offer?  What this message did for me was open my eyes to the true reason I work so hard to make this business grow. This message and my concern for the value of my business relates to so many of the needs and concerns of our everyday lives.  We get so caught up in the busyness of our lives, and what people may think, that we tend to forget the true meaning for living.  Jesus is the reason we get up in the morning, work, and live. We serve him because, through death, we all want to reach that heavenly place and in everything that we do, its to bring glory to his name!!!

The message referenced 2 Cor 5:1-10, where the speaker was saying, “Paul’s telling us about that heavenly place where real wealth and prosperity are found and his anticipation of that life keep him above all the problems of this one. His anticipation of what is to come gave him victory over all the difficulties…”  This speaker delivered just the message I needed to hear. It was a message that  many of us need to hear to be reminded that the reason we serve the Lord is the same reason why we live- to be reunited with our heavenly Father.  What I have to offer is not material, but a spiritual gift to share with others. I was reminded that it’s not what we live for, it’s the who. Read the rest of this entry »
